Welcome to 2020! We've just released Analytic Solver V2020 with a faster LP/Quadratic Solver, 36 new or enhanced functions for Monte Carlo simulation, and an all-new capability for DMN-compatible business rules and decision tables. Read our blog post here, or our press release on PRWeb. If you have an active software license – trial, academic or commercial – you can use both Analytic Solver V2020 Desktop and Analytic Solver Cloud! Analytic Solver Cloud is the only next-gen "Office add-in" available for optimization or simulation or data mining – we're far ahead of our traditional Excel-based competitors. To get a better understanding of Analytic Solver Cloud, watch this broadcast – click the video and advance to 35:55, then watch for 21 minutes.
If you own a license for any of our "branded" large-scale Solver Engines, you'll definitely want to get this new release! It will install major new versions of the Gurobi Solver (V9), the Xpress Solver (V35), and the Knitro Solver (V12.1) – all of them new in the past few months. In case you haven't seen it (our Cloud version was first released in May 2019), here's a screen shot of the Analytic Solver Cloud Ribbon and Task Pane, with an example optimization model. This shows how it looks in the Chrome browser, using Excel for the Web – but it looks and works the same in modern versions of Excel for Windows and Excel for Macintosh, available via an Office 365 subscription. Deploying Your Model: How Analytic Solver Works with RASON and Solver SDKYou've got your optimization, simulation or data mining model working in Excel – what's next? In some business situations, that's all you need: For major decisions that are made infrequently, you and colleagues can gather around a desktop or laptop, or view model results projected in a conference room. But what about situations where your model supports decisions and actions that will be made repeatedly and frequently – perhaps every day, hour or minute? That's where Frontline's RASON® cloud service and our Solver SDK® for servers and desktops can help enormously. We provide several ways to get your model deployed for production use. Analytic Solver has a menu option Create App that translates your Excel model into an equivalent RASON model that's easy to use in a web or mobile app – where Excel may not be available. Solver SDK makes it easy for a developer working in C++, C#, Java, R or Python to use your Excel model or RASON model directly from code. And we're taking this deployment capability much further – see the next article for hints of what's coming! |
Preview of RASON® V2020: The Easy Way to Deploy Your Model |
For almost five years, we've offered RASON® (RESTful Analytic Solver® Object Notation) for use by professional web developers – enabling them to use optimization, simulation and data mining models "behind the scenes" in their applications. Up to now, using RASON has required skills in JavaScript, REST APIs and other web development tools. But this is about to change ... so if you're an analyst or modeler who's more comfortable in Excel than in code, things are about to get more exciting! At Microsoft Ready (below), we plan to announce RASON V2020, with new ways to integrate easily with Office 365, Dynamics 365, and the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate, the new name for Microsoft Flow) using tools like OData, the Common Data Service, OneDrive for Business, and CData's Cloud Hub. And there's more: Where in the past you'd have to maintain your model and data in your own application (hosted by you or your company), with RASON V2020 you can create, run and manage your cloud-based analytic decision model "point and click" in RASON, without writing any code! Our goal is to offer the best platform ever for creation, testing and deployment of analytic decision models with "low-code / no-code and no ceiling". That means you can get your model "up and running" for ongoing use across your company without needing a lot of IT or professional developer effort – but if and when you do want to enhance your model with code or embed it in a larger application, RASON V2020 gives you great flexibility and power to do just that! We're Exhibiting at Microsoft Ready – Seattle February 3-7 |
Frontline Systems is exhibiting at the upcoming Microsoft Ready conference, February 3-7 at the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle. But this event is open only to select Microsoft employees in sales and support: It's an opportunity for Microsoft's product teams – and partners like us – to highlight the latest product innovations that integrate closely with Microsoft platforms such as Azure, Office 365, Dynamics 365, and the Power Platform: Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow). Frontline Systems will demonstrate all the ways Analytic Solver® and RASON® make it easier to develop and deploy analytics-powered decision models, working on these Microsoft platforms. We have the best "low-code / no-code" solution for customers using the Microsoft "tech stack" who want to get business value from analytics, with less time and risk. |
See Us at the INFORMS Analytics Conference – Denver April 26-28 |
Frontline Systems is also exhibiting at the upcoming INFORMS Business Analytics Conference, April 26 - 28 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Nearly 1,000 analytics professionals are expected to attend. We'll be available in the exhibit area throughout the conference.
